The collision occurred around 3:40 p.m., near the Rang Sainte-Famille level crossing. Only the victim’s vehicle was involved in the accident, but it was not possible to obtain further information on the circumstances of the accident. The woman was alone in the vehicle.
It was late in the evening that the SPS confirmed the death of the driver.
“The scene assessment was carried out by an investigator assisted by a detective sergeant from the Criminal Investigation Bureau. The investigation will continue over the coming days to determine the circumstances of the collision. The investigation being entrusted to the Coroner’s Office, the SPS will not issue any further comments,” the Saguenay Police Department announced on Wednesday evening.

Police, paramedics and firefighters were dispatched to the scene. Rang Saint-Famille was closed to traffic in both directions for a few hours.
Traffic was restored around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
