Calgary Flames forward Kevin Rooney experienced quite a scare Wednesday night, having his bells rung by JT Miller.

In the first period of this clash against the Vancouver Canucks, the 31-year-old hockey player tried to organize an exit from the territory, but his rival was waiting for him. The check knocked him off his feet and Rooney’s head then hit the boards.

The American remained lying on the ice for many minutes. He was finally able to get up with the help of his teammates when a stretcher entered the ice. He barely made it back to the locker room.

The incident led to a lot of bragging, with Adam Klapka and Ryan Lomberg coming to their teammate’s defense. The Quebec giant of the Canucks Vincent Desharnais also entered the fight.

The Flames subsequently announced that Rooney remained under evaluation and would miss the remainder of the game.
