Meïssa is one of the emblematic candidates of this 25th edition of Koh Lanta baptized “The Immunity Hunters”. The young man has caused a lot of ink to flow since reunification and his choice to become friends with Amri in order to develop a strategy supposed to allow them to go as far as possible. Meïssa’s ex-team experienced what they consider to be a betrayal very badly, while the candidate criticized his former teammates for never taking the time to really listen to him. A dialogue of the deaf which has given rise to numerous tensions since… Still involved in the adventure, Meïssa gave an interview to our colleagues from Télé-Loisirs in which he returned to a dramatic event which could perhaps have cost him the life.
“A very, very painful experience”
For our colleagues, he remembered: “I was in the kitchen cooking fries in a pan filled with oil. The oil caught fire in the pan. Should have put a lid or a wet towel on. But I got the wrong one reflex to take the flaming pan and put it under tap water”. A dangerous decision taken in haste and which unfortunately had serious consequences for the 29-year-old candidate. Indeed, he then clarified: “Unfortunately, when you put water in an oil that is on fire, it acts like a grenade, it makes an explosion. From then on, I was burned on several parts of my body, including a lot on the head , arms, feet”.
This “very very painful experience” strengthened his mind as he confided. “I’ll spare you all the details of the pain, but it was the same as the adventure. It was a turning point. I had to go through that to get back up stronger. That’s life, that’s destiny”, he assured. And to conclude: “If we don’t give up when we’re in a hospital bed with third-degree burns, it’s not going to Koh-Lanta and having an empty stomach that was going to make me give up“.
