“Unusual” in October
Tuesday morning, Météo France announced the end of orange vigilance “rain/floods” for Saône-et-Loire, Loire, Rhône, Ardèche, Lozère and Gard, but continued disruptions for Jura, Ain, Isère, Hautes-Alpes and Alpes-Maritimes until 2 p.m. The day before, the meteorological service warned that a Cévennes episode was going to hit these departments, a phenomenon which refers to violent storms and intense rain.
The forecaster speaks of a deterioration “fairly large-scale and unusual for the month of October” over the country, from New Aquitaine to Centre-Val de Loire to the north-eastern quarter. This type of episode, however, is not unusual in the Cévennes regions, underlines the forecaster.
