Ligue 1: Stade Brestois signs a sluggish but valuable success against Le Havre, with the return of Lees-Melou

While it monopolizes the top of the table in the Champions League with two victories in two matches, Stade Brestois, however, lacked oxygen in the Ligue 1 standings. Opposite , this Sunday for the 7th day of the championship, the SB29 won 2-0 against this direct competitor from the bottom of the table, thanks to goals from Ajorque (13th) and Salah (90th+2) and gives themselves some air in the standings.

Five days after their European success in Salzburg, and a big week after their XXL disappointment (3-0 defeat) in , the Ty Zefs redeemed themselves, in terms of results, before the eyes of their supporters. The manner, on the other hand, left something to be desired at the end of 90 minutes where the Brestois, jostled by the Le Havre, did not display great mastery. They nevertheless had the very notable merit of being realistic offensively (two goals from three shots on target) and of not giving in defensively against the clumsy Normans (14 shots, none on target).

Pierre Lees-Melou played again

The meeting was also marked by the return to competition of Pierre Lees-Melou. After five months of absence (stress fracture of the right fibula), the organizer of the game in front of his defense came into play at the start of the second half. From the outset, in the register that we know of him, he stabilized the Brest building and scratched precious balloons.

“In addition to the plates and screws, I had a bone graft. It was not consolidated enough”

Accused by football columnist Daniel Riolo of having dragged out his return, he responded to his detractor: “a consultant who apparently has a second career as a surgeon, and who knows more than the current surgeon. I will ask him for advice next time. And let him call me if he wants information, instead of talking nonsense on his radio“.

The Brest midfielder then detailed this longer-than-expected return. “It took a while because I relapsed. I resumed typing too quickly. In addition to the plates and screws, I had a bone graft. It was not consolidated enough. It still vibrates a little, but I’m back 100%“.

“It wasn’t the best match but I’m happy to come back from a victory”: Pierre Lees-Melou also commented on the mixed performance of Stade Brestois. At a time when an international window opens, the SB29 approaches it with a little more comfort in the ranking.
