MLB: Alec Bohm left on the bench for Game 2 against the Mets

Hoping to revive an offense mired in lethargy, the Philadelphia Phillies have decided to sideline star third baseman Alec Bohm ahead of Game 2 of their National League Division Series against the New York Mets. York, Sunday.

Bohm is healthy but in a slump himself after being shut out in four visits to the plate in a 6-2 loss to the Phillies in Game 3 of the best-of-five series on Saturday.

He concluded the season with a streak of two hits in 27 visits to the plate. Additionally, although the sample size is small, he has no hits in three career plate appearances against Severino.

“I wanted to add energy to our lineup with Sosa. He’s kind of our energy player,” explained Phillies manager Rob Thomson before the start of the second game. »

“Bohm is having a tough time at the plate, but he’s not the only one. He is frustrated. But I wanted to put Sosa in the lineup. »

In 31 playoff games, Bohm has a career average of .222 (24-for-108) with two home runs and 14 RBIs.

In 90 games in 2024, Sosa has recorded a .257 batting average with seven home runs and 31 RBIs.
