Algeria Football – In one of the most anticipated matches of the season in Algerian Ligue 1, CS Constantine (CSC) faces MC Alger (MCA) at the Ben Abdelmalek Ramdane stadium in Constantine. This meeting promises to be decisive for the two teams with very different ambitions at the start of the 2024/2025 season.
MC Alger, defending champion, started the season with a slight disappointment by conceding a 1-1 draw against Paradou AC on its home ground, the Ali Ammar stadium. However, Patrice Amir Beaumelle’s men quickly turned things around on matchday two by beating JS Kabylie 2-1 away, in what was described by many observers as one of the most thrilling encounters of the championship this year. This victory allowed MCA to climb to the top of the ranking, tied with Paradou AC, with four points each.

The MCA, although deprived of its former playing master Youcef Belaili, who left the club after having greatly contributed to their championship title last season, shows no sign of weakness. The Algerian club was able to compensate for this departure thanks to solid recruitment, notably with the arrival of Algerian international Andy Delort. The latter did not disappoint, scoring his first goal in his new colors in his first match, thus meeting the high expectations of the supporters. This performance has boosted the confidence of the team, which seems ready to defend its title fiercely.
For CS Constantine, the start of the season was more complicated. The team is currently in 12th place in the standings, after two consecutive draws. During its trip to Chlef to face ASO Chlef at the Mohamed Boumezrag stadium, CSC had to settle for a 0-0. The same score was repeated at home on the second day against ES Mostaganem, despite the efforts made.
The CSC therefore still has to prove this season, and this confrontation against the MCA constitutes a golden opportunity to obtain their first victory. But it won’t be easy, as the reigning champions are determined to maintain their winning momentum and move towards a second consecutive title. A victory would allow CSC to finally launch their season, while a defeat would seriously complicate their ambitions.
This match could well be the turning point of the season for both teams, with a fierce battle for all three points.
