After the metro ticket, the bus ticket. The price of bus tickets will double in Paris this summer, for the Olympic Games. “Tickets sold on board […] will go from 2.50 euros to 5 euros”revealed the Transport Users Association and the National Federation of Transport User Associations (AUT/FNAUT) on Sunday in a publication on X (formerly Twitter).
Questioned by TF1, RATP and Île-de-France Mobilités confirmed this 50% increase in non-connecting tickets purchased directly from bus drivers. It will come into force on July 20 and end on September 8. This increase is not the only one planned for public transport during the Olympic Games. The single metro ticket will also almost double, going from 2.10 euros to 4 euros for visitors.
The CGT-RATP assures that it was not consulted regarding the increase in the price of bus tickets. “Increasing the price does not correspond to our values of a public service”denounced Sami Kennouzi, secretary of the union, at the microphone of BFMTV. “It can be seen as a form of racketeering, whether against tourists or even users”he denounced.
2% of sales
In its publication, the AUT/FNAUT also announced that “for management reasons, the RATP provides that the driver will give two tickets but tear one”. This implementation of a double ticket was confirmed by the RATP to TF1. The Ile-de-France management ensures that this solution, ” the simplest “was decided in consultation with Île-de-France Mobilités.

“It will be necessary to purchase and validate two transport tickets”she announces, specifying that these two tickets will correspond to “twice the single ticket” currently in effect and sold for €2.50. This measure would avoid having to print new tickets marked at the correct price.
RATP and Île-de-France Mobilités defend the price increase by recalling that these transport tickets are sold on board the bus “in troubleshooting” and that they “represent less than 2% of sales”.
