The suspect is known to the police and is said to be “disturbed”, but not “dangerous”.
In Paris, the police are receiving numerous calls from shopkeepers who say they have received a visit from a man who, once in their store, licks the floor. A suspect who seems well known to the police since the latter has already caused several victims, resulting in the congestion of the telephone line at 17.
Among the traders who received a visit from this individual, Rym Karaoun-Gouezou, a florist. To Le Parisien, she indicates that it is “arrived in my store. We said hello to him like any customer. He looked normal, tall, stout, 50 or 60 years old… He got down on one knee, lay down between my flowers, said I need help! and he started licking the floor.
She then explains that she called the firefighters once before contacting them again to cancel the intervention, because the latter had left on his own. She was still switched to the police line who told her: “Ah, but it’s the licker! He’s very disturbed, but he’s not dangerous.”
According to officials, the individual “mainly targets clothing stores on the left bank, with a predilection for the 5th, 7th, 13th and 14th arrondissements. We hear about him when he leaves Sainte-Anne (14th century) and finds himself out of treatment.
For its part, the police emergency call platform (PFAU) emphasizes that we have “unfortunately more and more psychiatric cases” and adds: “Frankly, it’s not our job to deal with stuff like that.”
