Beerschot took its second point of the season on Friday evening on the field of KVC Westerlo. The Kielse Ratten took the lead twice, but 17-year-old Luka Vuskovic kept erasing it.
Beerschot took on KVC Westerlo in ‘t Kuipje on Friday evening. Dirk Kuyt changed into his starting line-up five times again, Shinton was again between the posts. Simons retained Westerlo’s confidence.
The match started with a lot of intensity on both sides. Westerlo was looking for an early lead and quickly took control of the match. That immediately gave the home team a lot of opportunities, but Beerschot was well organized at the back.
Halfway through the first half, it was Beerschot that suddenly took the lead, against the flow of the game. Reyners kicked from a distance and blasted the ball past Sinan Bolat. After the goal, the Gamecocks suddenly found it a bit more difficult.
However, there were still chances for the home team, which should have scored a goal before half-time. After the break, the Gamecocks immediately started looking for an equalizer and the opportunities continued to pile up.
On the hour it was the prize. Haspolat painted a corner on the head of Vuskovic, who skillfully headed the ball against the ropes. So the signs were again at 1-1 in the Kempen. In the second half Westerlo completely took over the game again.
Sanusi was able to explode the away section again about ten minutes before the end by giving Beerschot the lead again. However, the joy was short-lived, as three minutes later Vuskovic scored his second of the evening from close range. In the end the final score remained 2-2.
With this draw, Beerschot takes its second point of the season, but still remains last in the standings. Enough for Dirk Kuyt to keep his job as head coach? The board will discuss his position on Monday. Westerlo thus (briefly) climbs to fourth place in the rankings.
