A dramatic road accident caused the death of Maëna Le Bigot, aged 18, this Thursday, October 3, in Louargat. The young woman, a student at the IUT of Lannion, was a football fan, an unconditional supporter of En Avant Guingamp and a citizen invested in her town of La Chapelle-Neuve. Since the announcement of his death, tributes have multiplied on social networks around Guingamp.

On Thursday evening, the En Avant Guingamp club and its supporters were among the first to honor her memory: “En Avant was saddened to learn of the tragic death of Maëna, a loyal supporter of the club for 18 years. En Avant Guingamp would like to express its full support to his family, loved ones and friends during these difficult times,” indicates the club. The Red Kop 1993 also expressed its “very great sadness” at the tragic death of the young woman “faithful among us in the Kop at every meeting”.

“Smile, kindness, commitment”

Maëna was a member of the Plougonver Sports Union, which describes the player and volunteer’s investment on its page: “She was one of the first to contribute to the creation of our women’s team. His smile, his kindness and his commitment touched each of us. Losing someone so full of promise is a difficult ordeal to accept.”

Maëna Le Bigot was also very involved in her town, of which she had recently become standard bearer. “She was a young girl like we would all like to have. She was very committed, she had respect for institutions in her skin. She had it stuck in her body. I admired this girl for her commitments, whether with veterans or in football. I have no words in the face of such tragedy, such suffering. », Testifies the mayor of La Chapelle-Neuve, Jean-Paul Prigent, very moved.
