ASSE brings out the big artillery for a scorer

L’ASSE has experienced major offensive difficulties since his return to Ligue 1. The Greens ofOlivier Dall’Oglio have scored just three goals in six games. Enough to make the Saint-Etienne management react, who decide to put an end to the ordeal of a club scorer.

ASSE: The Ibrahima Wadji enigma, a headache for the Greens

Since his arrival in Saint-Étienne, Ibrahima Wadji has not known stability. While he continues to suffer from injuries, the Senegalese striker struggles to establish himself and find his best level. Arriving in Forez in 2022, he quickly won over Saint-Etienne supporters thanks to his physical qualities and his ability to score goals.

Associated with Jean-Philippe Krasso, who ended up leaving Saint-Etienne for Red Star Belgrade, he formed a formidable offensive duo. However, injuries quickly cut into his momentum. Since his first injury in August 2023, Ibrahima Wadji has continued to experience relapses. Despite the care and efforts of the ASSE medical staff, the Senegalese striker has not been able to regain optimal physical condition.

Clairefontaine to put Ibrahima Wadji back on his feet

Despite his physical problems, Wadji responded when the club needed him most. He notably scored the goal of promotion to Ligue 1 against FC in the play-offs for promotion to Ligue 1. A strong moment which gave hope to the entire club. Unfortunately, the joy was short-lived.

To try to put an end to this negative spiral of its scorer, ASSE decided to send Wadji to Clairefontaine. The FFF training center should thus allow the attacker to benefit from personalized medical monitoring and to resume appropriate physical preparation. The objective is to allow him to get back on his feet in order to find optimal shape.

If the player manages to return to his best level, he could become an important part of the team again. On the other hand, if the injuries persist, AS Saint-Etienne could be tempted to part ways with him.

Since returning to Ligue 1, Ibrahima Wadji has only played two matches over the previous six days, or just eight minutes. Which is far from his usual standards and the expectations of the club coached by Olivier Dall’Oglio, currently under pressure.
