A new swimming pool and around ten padel courts will see the light of day in Aubagne in 2026

A gravel field set to transform into an oasis. At the entrance to the Paluds zone, in , just behind the Lakanal college, the football field at the Mouren sports complex is not particularly welcoming. On either side of the cages without nets, clumps of wild grass try to nibble the sandy earth of the stabilized ground which is more reminiscent of the cinematographic universe of Mad Max than that of Pagnol.

It is here, on a municipal plot of 12,000 m², that a brand new sports infrastructure is to be created. And not least according to the City which made the surprise announcement this week by publishing the call for expressions of interest. “The idea is to create a second sports center with the Charrel but opposite itdraws up Pascal Agostini, deputy for sport. Our ambition for padel is great. We intend to make the site one of the most advanced in the department while having in the same place a new swimming pool and the Mouren gymnasium which will be preserved.

A “big sports center” managed by the private sector

It must be said that racket sport is on the rise, in Provence as throughout the rest of the country. With “at least” ten courts, the idea will therefore be to make Aubagne a mandatory crossing point for fans of this sport which is played indoors, on a field closed by windows.
