The accident took place this Thursday, October 3 at 1:30 p.m. in Brignoles () on the D43 road.

Firefighters intervened in a traffic accident between a car and a heavy goods vehicle involving two people. One is seriously injured and the other is slightly injured. Emergency services quickly took care of the victims.

But what worries the rescuers is the leak they noticed in the tank of the heavy goods vehicle which contains 33,000 liters of diesel. They are currently carrying out actions to stop the leak and protect the environment.

According to the Var firefighters, the quantity of gasoline that escaped is “weak“.

This is why two vehicles specializing in chemical risks are at the scene of the accident.

33 firefighters are participating in this operation. The rescue system includes: two ambulances, a nursing vehicle, a road rescue and marking vehicle, three firefighting and protection vehicles, a water carrier vehicle and two command vehicles.

In the afternoon “a second tanker truck and a crane truck“arrived there”to ensure the fuel transfer operation“, specifies SDIS83. An operation which should last until around 8 p.m.
