Guest on BFM Business, the CEO of the FDJ assured that the government was not considering increasing taxes on gambling.

Towards an increase in taxation on gambling? The FDJ had a difficult day on the stock market, penalized by fears of increased taxation on gambling. According to information from Les Échos, the government is considering modifying social security contributions on casinos, sports betting, lotteries and even online poker, to generate 500 million additional revenues for the “family” and “illness” branches of the Social security.

This measure could appear in the social security financing bill (PLFSS) expected next week in the Council of Ministers, according to Les Échos.

4.3 billion euros

“The FDJ is a major contributor, in terms of gaming taxation, to the state budget” and “we paid 4.3 billion euros last year”, reacted this Thursday evening Stéphane Pallez, CEO of the FDJ, on the set of BFM Business. “It’s not as if we were undertaxed,” she said, assuring that (…) is a country in which the level of taxation on gambling is high. “According to the leader of the FDJ, the executive would however not intend to increase the current taxation.

“I was verified at the source and, today, there is no measure of this type in the PLFSS,” assured Stéphane Pallez.

“No decision”

“There is no (…) government decision to impose this type of taxation”, “which is, in any case, an extraordinarily ineffective system” to bring in additional revenue, she argued. “That there are people who, in offices, are looking for additional income, it is possible”, but “I checked in the state apparatus what was happening and, today, It is not the government’s position to put this type of measure in the PFLSS.”
