Amounting 44.2 billion centimes, the work relating to the connection of 1011 housing units in Mohammadia, which was launched these days, will improve access to natural gas for residents of rural areas. We also learn that 9,000 other homes, across the wilaya of Mascara, will be connected to the electricity network.

Work to connect 1,011 homes to the natural gas network was launched the day before yesterday in the douars of Djabour and Chadli, in the commune of Mohammadia, in the wilaya of Mascara.

An investment of 44.2 billion centimes was mobilized for this purpose, including 34.1 billion centimes for the construction of 4.9 kilometers of transmission pipelines and 10 billion centimes for 30.3 kilometers of distribution pipeline.

This project, with an estimated completion time of 10 months, aims to improve access to natural gas for residents of rural areas, with a connection cost per dwelling reaching up to 43.7 million centimes.

During his visit to the site, the wali of Mascara, Farid Mohamedi, underlined that more than 19,000 homes distributed in various rural areas of 22 municipalities are affected by connection operations to the natural gas network. At the same time, nine thousand other homes will also be connected to the electricity network.

These operations are part of the efforts made by the State to improve the living conditions of citizens and develop basic infrastructure in the different regions of the wilaya of Mascara.

Furthermore, the wali warned the electricity and gas distribution company (Sonelgaz) against any attempt to connect housing illegally built on state land to the electricity and gas network, in accordance with law 18-23 of November 28, 2023 relating to the protection of state lands.

This law aims to prevent any attack on these lands and to severely sanction any violation of its provisions, by imposing personal liability on offenders, whether they are civil servants or managers of these lands. Thus, the protection of the State’s land assets is ensured in compliance with the legal and regulatory standards in force.
