Show of desolation, this Sunday morning, in the small open car park on rue Coluche, in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin. In the dead of night, a fire destroyed a car there before spreading to seven other vehicles. Quickly on the scene, around 3:30 a.m., firefighters were only able to contain the fire and prevent further damage.

A police investigation was opened. This involves checking whether it was an accident or a voluntary act. But this very quiet neighborhood, and particularly this small, uneventful street, has for several months been the scene of nauseating acts affecting the mosque and targeting the Muslim community.

Even if it is difficult to establish a report in the current state of affairs, the location of the facts is disturbing. The parking lot is located just opposite the place of worship, targeted twice by racist tags and threats of death (night of November 24 to 25, 2023 and April 15, 2024), as well as by a large-caliber gunshot. in the portal (night of April 7 to 8, 2024).
