Beyond meetings with writers, the Oxymore bookstore also likes to invite publishing houses to get to know them better. Saturday October 5, the day is dedicated to the famous Verdier publishing house born in 1979, at a place called Verdier in Corbières, from the desire of a few not to stop at the failure of years of activism policy. The catalog of nearly a thousand titles houses some important writers of contemporary French literature: Pierre Michon, Pierre Bergounioux, Michèle Desbordes, Camille de Toledo, Béatrice Commengé, Emmanuel Venet, Armand Gatti… Translated literature is widely available there. represented in the fields of Italian, Spanish, Catalan, Russian (Chalamov and his Stories from Kolyma), German-speaking, Japanese (Eloge de l’ombre de Tanizaki), as well as philosophy and history, with among others Carlo Ginzburg and Patrick Boucheron. Since 2015, the “La petite jaune” collection has offered intervention texts, such as those by Marielle Macé and Barbara Stiegler. During the day, two highlights: at 4 p.m., meeting with Colette Olive, co-founder of Editions Verdier (with Michèle Planel and Gérard Bobillier) and the writer and psychiatrist Emmanuel Venet. Then at 8:30 p.m., reading of the text “Les deux Beune” by the actor Pierre Baux. Entrance 8 euros. Reservations are recommended at 06 07 900 389. 1 rue Arago.
