A 15-year-old boy from the Bathurst area has died following a collision between two all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) near Beresford, New Brunswick.

On May 3, around 10:20 p.m., members of the Chaleur Region RCMP Detachment responded to the scene of a collision between two ATVs on Route 11.

of the drivers apparently lost control of his ATV. The driver of one of the ATVs was slightly injured and received treatment on scene. His passenger, a 15-year-old boy, died at the scene of the collision. The driver of the other ATV was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the first ATV, a 15-year-old boy, was arrested on site and then released. He will have to appear in court in September.

Employees from Ambulance New Brunswick, Beresford firefighters and an RCMP collision reconstructionist also attended the scene. The New Brunswick Coroner’s is collaborating in the investigation.

Highway 11 was closed for several hours, but has since reopened.

The investigation continues.
