After a break of around eight years, Alexis Azéma (ASPTT Moulins) made his decision, in August 2023, to resume competition with a rather daring objective of qualifying among the National elite in the category of less than 60 kg.
Supported by his brother Kévin, reigning French champion under 66 kg, they began a program together which began in Rochefort where he ranked 7 e , before a second place at the national tournament in Saint-Pourçain and a victory at the international open in Saint-Denis-les-Bourg. He then obtained the titles of Allier champion and Auvergne-Loire interdepartmental champion and, last weekend in Grenoble, became Aura champion, with four victories and forty points.
“An example for the young people of the club”
“Alexis is truly an example for the young people at the club,” emphasizes his brother, Kevin. He was able to show that with discipline, seriousness, but above all a lot of pleasure in practicing his sport, any meaningful objective is achievable. I am very proud of Alexis and I can’t wait to fight in the French first division championship alongside him. I don’t know if you realize it, but today he is one of the 32 best French people in his under 60 kg category. »
In the same weekend, the young cadet from ASPTT Moulins, Gabin Maitre obtained a nice bronze medal in the + 90 kg category and qualified for the French second division championship which will take place in Ceyrat next June. . Without coming from a high-level structure with only three hours of training per week, Gabin will participate in his second French championship.
Finally, the ASPTT judokas are on all fronts. During the National Open in Yzeure, Alexandre Lesage, Louna Basseville and Louis Martin Yanga finished first; Lyse Gosset, third. In the juniors, Stacy Sidi, Flavien Onillon and Clément Vayer finished second; Hanaée Fernandes, third. Élodie Rojat took silver at the Tours International Veterans Open.
