International Press Freedom Day: President Tebboune listens to journalists’ concerns

The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, chaired, Thursday at the Abdelatif Rahal International Conference Center (CIC) (Algiers), the ceremony celebrating World Press Freedom Day, which coincides with May 3 of each year.

The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, chaired, Thursday at the Abdelatif Rahal International Conference Center (CIC) (Algiers), a ceremony in honor of journalists, on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day (May 3).

The ceremony took place in the presence of senior state officials, members of the government, heads of media establishments, journalists from different audiovisual media, radio and the written and electronic press and representatives of the foreign press accredited in Algeria. The President of the Republic spoke with journalists whom he congratulated on this occasion and whose concerns he listened to.

In a speech delivered on this occasion, the Minister of Communication, Mohamed Laagab, emphasized “the major role of the national media in defending the interests, unity and sovereignty of the country, as well as in promoting the achievements made in recent years, which have strengthened the people’s confidence in their constitutional institutions.

The minister recalled that the President of the Republic “established a laudable tradition through his periodic meetings with representatives of the media and the celebration of National Press Day and World Press Freedom Day, as many “opportunities to highlight the achievements made in the sector”.
