Several thousand vehicles pass through the roundabout at the entrance to Dudelange every day. Change is coming for all these motorists.
Traffic will soon be “optimized” thanks to the installation of traffic lights around the second largest roundabout in Luxembourg. This is what RTL was able to confirm with the Ponts et Chaussées on Friday.
When the Dudelange-Burange roundabout was commissioned, the possible installation of lights was studied and the foundations and connections were therefore made. This should allow these systems to be put in place in a relatively short period of time.
However, before launching a new project in an already saturated roundabout, the Ponts et Chaussées want to wait until the work underway in Bettembourg is completed. This would mean that the lights cannot be installed before the end of 2024 or early 2025.
When they are in place, traffic will be regulated in the same way as the “Iergaertchen” roundabout located not far from the municipality of Sandweiler. You should know that the Dudelange roundabout sees around 2,500 vehicles circulating during peak hours. At night, this figure can reach 3,000 vehicles.
