“The implementations of poultry Label rouge fell by 3.8% between January and August 2024 and the same period in 2023,” figure Bernard Tauzia, president of Synalaf on Wednesday September 25 during a press conference in Paris. In chicken Label rouge, establishments fell by 5% during the first seven months of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023 (-94,000 chickens per week) and by 7% compared to the same time in 2022. In the same time, “the Label Rouge poultry market has stabilized. Supply matches demand,” notes the president.

“Ready-to-cook chicken has regained momentum. The outlook is positive,” Bernard Tauzia’s jubilee. “We have worked a lot with distributors, supermarkets being our main outlet”. In this segment under quality signchicken, as standard, is the flagship poultry.
The price of Label rouge chicken fillet still high in supermarkets
The enthusiasm is not the same in filet of Red Label chicken. “The multiplier coefficient on the net is not always consistent”regrets Benoît Drouin, vice-president of Synalaf. High shelf prices do not seem consistent for the union “while the price of animal feed is falling compared to previous years”Bernard Tauzia soufflé. “We are asking for repercussions in supermarkets”growls Benoît Drouin.

Consumers who are very price sensitive
“When the kilo is more than 20 euros, customers do not buy Label Rouge chicken fillet,” sighs the vice-president of the union while at the same time the thigh of Label rouge chicken per kilo is sold for 10 euros. A higher price for the net which can be explained by “manual cutting, absence of bones, ease of cooking”. MBut such an expensive level is not justified according to Synalaf. “Apart from the net, distributors have lowered prices by 5 to 6% since summer 2023”souligne Bernard Tauzia.
