Netflix has revealed a first image of the Irish actor in the film inspired by the hit series which has just started filming.
“Thomas Shelby is back”. Netflix lifts the veil on the film inspired by the hit series Peaky Blinders and reveals a first image of Cillian Murphy in the skin of the famous leader of the Shelby family.
“By order of the Peaky Blinders… Tommy Shelby is back. Cillian Murphy and Steven Knight are reunited on set as production on the next Netflix film officially begins,” Netflix announced on X.
Written by Steven Knight and directed by Tom Harper – already at the helm of the series – this film should introduce fans to “a new chapter in the story of Peaky Blinders, which takes place during the Second World War”, specifies Netflix. “The country being at war, and of course our Peaky Blinders are too.”
“Thomas Shelby wasn’t done with me”
Last June, Cillian Murphy, Oscar winner for his performance in Oppenheimerhad announced that he would reprise his role in the Steven Knight film. “Thomas Shelby wasn’t done with me…” he confided in a Netflix press release.
“It’s very rewarding to collaborate again with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film adaptation of Peaky Blinders. We dedicate it to the fans,” continues the actor.
Worn by Cillian Murphy, Peaky Blinders has received numerous awards since its debut a decade ago. The series achieved worldwide success after its broadcast on the streaming platform Netflix and ended in 2022 after six seasons.
