It is a tragedy from which the victim’s family is still struggling to recover, and which upsets the French: Saturday April 27, 2024 at the end of the afternoon, in the quiet town of Châteauroux (Indre) made up of 43,000 inhabitants, young Matisse, 15, died following several stab wounds to the chest. A death occurred following a “brawl” with a young man, who, on Monday April 29, was indicted for “murder” then placed in pre-trial detention, according to the Bourges prosecutor’s office.
The 16-year-old teenager is not the only one to be involved in this affair which has attracted so much attention in recent days: his mother, too, was indicted and imprisoned on April 29 for “intentional violence” on “vulnerable person”. The reason ? This 37-year-old woman and mother is accused of having slapped the boy when he was on the ground, as indicated by the prosecutor.

In recent days, thanks to the progress of the investigation, those close to young Matisse, 15, have learned that the victim and her attacker knew each other from afar, without being friends either. And in a video discovered on social networks, that our colleagues from Figaro were able to authenticate in an article published on April 30, 2024, the minor accused of the murder of Matisse films himself in the street, walking around with a bladed weapon. “You see, I have a knife.”he boasts in this sequence which is not dated, and which “has nothing to do with Matisse’s aggression”.
R. also films his journey, without ever showing his face. And as our colleagues explain, the young man seems “apparently looking for an individual” And “seems driven by a feeling of revenge.” “Wallah (I swear to God in Arabic, Editor’s note), now I’m going to go to this son of a bitch’s house. Wallah, I hate it too much (…) I’m going to ring this son of a bitch at his house. If he doesn’t answer, on my mother’s head I’m going to n***** his mother”he says, threateningly, when arriving in front of a building.

Murder of Matisse in Châteauroux: the accused teenager already known to the police
A chilling transcription, which echoes R’s stormy past. Indeed, the boy incriminated in the Matisse murder case in Chateauroux is already known to the police. On April 22, he was already accused of an ambush story, which he allegedly spread via social networks. A case this time coupled with mobile phone theft, but already under knifepoint.
And to try to find out more about the context of the case, and above all to try to explain the fatal actions of R. The Parisian went to meet his big brother on April 30. According to the latter, the young man would not have attacked Matisse against a background of racism “anti-French”or against the backdrop of drug trafficking, but to take revenge on the young man he stabbed. “My brother couldn’t stand being beaten by Matisse. He had a nosebleed and it made him crazy. He went to get a knife and wanted revenge”he explained to our colleagues.

Faced with all these revelations and despite their sadness, many residents of Châteauroux paid tribute to Matisse, and expressed their condolences to the parents on social networks. Almost 6 days after the tragedy, the family is now advocating appeasement, particularly with the arrival of the white march in Châteauroux on Saturday May 4.
A little earlier in the week, Matisse’s father had already mentioned the subject: “Be careful of all sides, from the right or elsewhere, who appropriate this type of thing. We are going to do things in memory of our son, who was a truly good man, so we will remain kind and not turn to hatred or violence”.
