A City of Sorel-Tracy employee tragically dies in a motorcycle accident

A 31-year-old woman from Sorel-Tracy died tragically in a motorcycle accident on September 12 in Montreal.
Erika Gissel Cuervo Daza was traveling on Highway 15 in the evening, around 9:30 p.m., with a group of motorcyclists when car traffic suddenly stopped due to traffic. The thirty-year-old from Sorel was unable to brake in time and violently hit a car in front of her, but not without trying to avoid it. The mother of three was taken to hospital for treatment of serious injuries but did not survive.
Ms. Cuervo Daza was an employee of the City of Sorel-Tracy who worked in particular at the Laurier-R.-Ménard swimming pool. A minute of silence in his honor was observed before the regular council meeting on September 16.
“We have learned of the sudden death of a City employee. […] Erika worked as an aquatic expert for the Leisure and Living Environment Department. On my behalf, and on behalf of the city council of Sorel-Tracy, we offer our sincere condolences to his family, his friends and his colleagues,” said the deputy mayor, Martin Lajeunesse.
An investigation is underway by the coroner Julie-Kim Godin in order to shed light on the causes and circumstances surrounding the death.
Another 19-year-old motorcyclist was injured in the accident, but his life was not in danger.
