The administration of the local prison of Nador has denied the allegations relayed by certain electronic sites attributing the death of an inmate to “ of the violence he allegedly suffered from officials of the establishment ” and the death of another detainee, of Guinean nationality, at an alleged ” neglect“.

In a clarification, the prison administration specified that the first case of death concerns the inmate (SB), aged 72, whose death occurred at the hospital where he had been urgently admitted in a state of fainting, knowing that the individual in question had already been transferred three times, the last of which was on April 24, 2024, to an external hospital, “ following a notable drop in weight“.

The same Source indicated that the inmate concerned had never been admitted to the infirmary of this penitentiary establishment, adding that the autopsy did not reveal the presence of any trace of violence or blows on his body. As a result, the prison administration emphasizes, the allegations of alleged violence against him are “ unfounded“.

Concerning the death of a detainee of Guinean nationality, the same Source indicated that this death dates back to October 29, 2023, specifying that the man in question died at the Nador provincial hospital where he had been admitted, on October 26 2023, “ for intestinal ailments“.

The detainee concerned had already been transferred several times to an external hospital and had undergone several medical examinations, “ contrary to the allegations made in the aforementioned articles claiming that he was the victim of negligence“, concludes the prison administration.
