A young 15-year-old teenager, Matisse Marchais, was stabbed to death after “ a fight involving two minors» Saturday April 27 at the end of the afternoon in the Saint-Denis district of Châteauroux in Indre. Several stab wounds, one of which was received in the chest, which led to the death of the young man. His attacker, another 15-year-old teenager already known to the courts, was taken into police custody and indicted for the murder of Matisse. He is currently placed in pre-trial detention as indicated by the Bourges prosecutor’s office.

This Tuesday, April 30, three days after the death of his son, Christophe Marchais, this bereaved father, published a magnificent and touching tribute on his Facebook account. A text of more than 700 words, full of kindness, which he begins with these few painful words: “You didn’t deserve this…. » The father of the family evokes in this long message the qualities of his son: “You were a real nice guy, ready to do anything for your friends even if it meant alienating your parents (…) Yes, you were a real nice guy, too nice even, who didn’t have the weapons for these associations that… have been attracting for several weeks“.

Murder of Matisse: his father says he does not “choose hatred”

This bereaved father fondly remembers “these past 15 wonderful years» near the young teenager. He also indicates with humility that he has two options: “Mope, choose hatred, anger”, options that could have been “legitimate“, but who “would lower us to the level of the two monsters who coldly murdered you» or that of appeasement and what his son would have preferred. “No, Matou, because we are not animals and that would be so unlike you!» he wrote before continuing: “I will live for you and I will laugh in your memory“.

He also calls on everyone to “put a sea otter» in a profile photo on social networks to pay a final tribute to his son.

A moving text which describes a young man “kind» which does not correspond to the version of the facts of the attacker who mentioned xenophobic insults as the starting point of the brawl. A version contradicted by the victim’s friends: “Matisse hung out with people of all kinds, Arabs, blacks, everyone. There were people with him, and these people were Arabs. I think his colleagues would have reacted badly and would have just put him in his place» explains Yacine, a friend of Matisse, toBFMTV.

This Saturday, May 4, 2024 in the afternoon, a white march will be organized in the city center of Châteauroux to pay tribute to the young teenager. Information confirmed by the mayor of the city, Gil Avérous, and which should follow a route among the establishments that Matisse frequented: his school, his house, the restaurant in which he worked and that of his parents.
