A new flood of the River de la Vie causes flooding in Vimoutiers

Heavy rain fell in the department of Orne, from Wednesday 1st until the morning of Thursday 2 May 2024. In Vimoutiers, as in 2018, Life came out of its bed, causing flooding in the city of Pres Cakes, in particular.

The Vie river burst its banks early this Thursday, May 2, 2024, overflowing into around fifteen housing units located mainly in the city of Prés Gâteaux and avenue du Général-de-Gaulle as well as on the side of the rural family home, the green spaces service and the bowling alley, in Vimoutiers (Orne). Not to mention the flooded cellars, landslides and falling trees which occurred at La Bergerie and La Hunière. But no casualties have been reported. Around fifteen people were brought to safety,” specifies Captain Nicolas Pestel, head of the town’s fire and rescue center.
