19 departments affected by a stormy episode. This Wednesday, May 1 from 5 p.m., Météo-France has placed Calvados, Seine-Maritime, Orne, Somme, Oise, Aisne, Marne, Aube, Yonne, Eure, Eure-et-Loir, as well as the whole of Île-de-France on orange alert for “thunderstorms”, “rain-flood” and “floods”.
“A stormy wave, organized and intense, will sweep the regions going from northern Burgundy to Hauts-de-France between the end of the afternoon and the second part of the night from Wednesday to Thursday”, indicates Météo-France on its site, specifying that the storms are expected to be particularly intense in the departments concerned by the orange vigilance. These stormy episodes can be accompanied by hail, squalls and heavy rain.
“After a short period of possible calm, new rains will approach the departments on orange alert from the South this Wednesday evening,” add the meteorologists. “These rains will be more intense than those observed previously”the expected accumulations could reach between 30 and 50 millimeters.
This precipitation adds to the soils still saturated in places, due to the latest rains. “Storm” vigilance extends until 3 a.m., on the night of May 1 to 2 and until 8 a.m. for “rain” alert.
