Elected officials, musicians and athletes await the arrival of the Olympic flame on May 29 at Espace Mayenne.

D-29 before the passage of the Olympic flame in Mayenne! She will pass through seven towns in the department on May 29from Château-Gontier, via Cossé-le-Vivien, Sainte-Suzanne-et-Chammes, Chailland, Mayenne, Pré-en-Pail-Saint-Samson, to arrival in Laval, at Espace Mayenne at 7:15 p.m.. But first, several activities will be offered from 3:30 p.m. on site: a basketball tournament, handball, climbing, volleyball initiations…

The François-Pervis velodrome will be taken over by the departmental cycling committee of Mayenne: the opportunity to highlight different races of track cyclingexplains Samuel Cheval, from CD cycling 53. “There will be scratch events, eliminations, points races, 45° turns… It goes very, very quickly, we can sometimes drive at 60-70 km/h.”
Initiations and demonstrations, which will perhaps encourage visitors to follow with more attention the performances of Mayenne cyclists. “We have Heïdi Gaugain, who is the world starunderlines Samuel Cheval. She is a student that I know well, because I had her for two years in my high school training structure. And then François Pervis, the star, who was the godfather of sports studies. So we will have a lot of champions to support in the months to come.”

Then will come the basin lighting ceremony at 7:15 p.m., “on the square in front of the Espace Mayenne, with a final guard of honor, made up of 24 personalities whose names will be revealed laterspecifies Olivier Richefou, president of the Departmental Council of Mayenne. The last torchbearer will then light the cauldron.” After the sporting events, it’s time for music inside the Espace Mayenne, with two concerts by Archimède and Laval DJ Ibanofrom 8:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.
“We often compare musicians to athletes”
“There is a link between the Olympic Games and Archimedes in Greek antiquityhave fun Nicolas and Frédéric Boisnard, from the Mayenne group. Even if we’re not sports fans, we follow Tangos; when we can go to the Francis-Le Basser stadium, we do it. Musicians, we are often compared to athletes: we have to train, rehearse, play… When we don’t play for a month, we feel rusty, so there is a link!

If sports events are freely accessible, concerts are free upon reservation online at lamayenne.fr On the practical side, it will not necessarily be easy to find a place by car on the big day: you can access the grassy car park near the Espace Mayenne until 6:30 p.m., then go to the car parks in the nearby shopping area.
8,000 people can be welcomed at the Espace Mayenne, for the arrival of the Olympic flame.
