Johnny Hallyday continues to occupy the news, even seven years after his disappearance. While a major exhibition has been dedicated to him in Paris for several months, unpublished titles have resurfaced, and his son David Hallyday is preparing an album bringing together covers of his father and songs from his own repertoire, led by a virtual duo on “Blood for blood”. At the same time, Laeticia Hallyday is preparing a musical around the rocker’s hits, and a biopic on the life of Johnny Hallyday is also in the works. Director Olivier Marchal had announced that he was working on a film but he finally threw in the towel, and it is now Jalil Lespert, former companion of Laeticia Hallyday, who will direct this highly anticipated project.

An actor who won a César!

While the Cannes Film Festival is currently taking place, Le Film Français has just announced that Universal Pictures International France will distribute a biopic on the life of Johnny Hallyday, which will be produced by Cinéfrance Studios. Entitled “Que je t’aime”, in a nod to his famous hit released in 1969, the film will therefore be directed by Jalil Lespert, to whom we already owe “Yves Saint Laurent” with Pierre Niney or the series “Versailles” on Canal+. According to initial information, the feature film, which will be shot in 2024, will focus on the meeting between Johnny Hallyday and Laeticia Hallyday in 1995, which was life-saving in his return to the forefront and his personal reconstruction. We already know which actor will play Johnny Hallyday on screen. Belgian actor Matthias Schoenaerts was chosen!

He is obviously not a beginner since Matthias Schoenaerts burst onto the screen in Jacques Audiard’s “De rouille et d’os”, for which he won the César for Most Promising Actor in 2013. Aged 46, the actor born in Antwerp was revealed in “Bullhead” in 2011, before playing in “Suite française” or “Red Sparrow”, and playing “Django” in the Canal+ series. The name of the actress who will play Laeticia Hallyday in the film “Que je t’aime” has not yet been announced.
