Rant from a reader of info-chalon: the law is the law, except when we are swimming in complete incoherence!

On the one hand, during the period from April 15 to June 30, we are asked to keep our dog on a leash during walks in the forest (apart from forest paths), under penalty of a fine. Even if my dog is not a hunter breed, but a shepherd, and he only goes ahead of me on the path, I respect this measure because it – I quote aims not to disrupt the reproduction of wild animals, prevent the destruction of birds and other species of animals, to promote their repopulation.

Indeed, until June 30 (I emphasize the date), it is a period of reproduction and nesting. OK, that seems to hold water to me. I am a contemplative person, and on my walks with my dog, I like to listen to the birdsong and be able to observe nature in full swing.

And, on the other hand, from June 15, the prefect could give the green light to digging teams to kill badgers (and their young) forcefully extracted from their burrows. I signed the public consultation to oppose it, like so many others, and we are awaiting the prefect’s decision. »

Read the article on Info-Chalon: Should we hunt badgers 4 more months of the year? That’s 9 months out of 12…

“So I summarize: if the prefect gave his agreement to the hunters, they would have the right to go digging, with their dogs sent into the badgers’ burrows to corner them, to finish them off (not a good sight), and we are made to believe that this would not ” would not disturb breeding or nesting wild species? As for us, ordinary citizens, we must ensure that our dogs do not enter the woods… during this killing?
I am stunned by this 2-speed approach! They REALLY take us for badgers! »

Info-chalon will relay the results and the prefect’s decision as soon as they are published.
