Like every start of the month, changes are expected in the daily lives of the French from this Wednesday, May 1, 2024.

Activating your CPF becomes paying

From this Wednesday, May 1, a major change will take place for those who wish to follow professional training. Therefore, you will now have to pay 100 euros to activate your Personal Training Account (CPF). Please note that job seekers and employees whose training is subject to employer matching will be exempt from this payment.

MaPrimeRénov’evolves

MaPrimeRénov’ is government assistance for financing the energy renovation of housing. Access to this aid will change from May 15, 2024 since the energy performance diagnosis (DPE) for insulation work or boiler change will no longer be compulsory without forgetting that houses classified F and G, called sieve energy, can now benefit from aid for their renovation.

Another change, candidates for renovation will be able to submit a file on the basis of a simple sales agreement. They will need to provide proof of title to finalize the assistance and obtain financing.

Small increase in gas

A slight increase in natural gas prices will be observed in May. It will now amount to 0.11061 euros for cooking and hot water and 0.08940 euros for heating, an increase of +1.4%. Subscription prices remain stable.

Doubling of the fixed contribution to the doctor

The patient’s contribution, which is not subject to reimbursement from health insurance or supplementary health insurance, will double from May 15 to go from 1 to 2 euros. You will therefore have to pay two euros for each consultation or procedure carried out by a doctor (general practitioner or specialist), radiological examination or biological analyses. Certain exceptions have been provided for by health insurance (minors, pregnant women).

This sum cannot, however, exceed 50 euros per insured person per year.

Small event, this month of May: Kylian Mbappé will play his last match in France with Paris SG. The captain of the France team announced his departure from the capital club this summer. He will probably play his last Ligue 1 match in Metz on May 19, a week before the Coupe de France final against Lyon (May 25 in Lille). Mbappé’s last match with PSG in the Champions League will take place on May 7 if the Parisians are eliminated by Dortmund or on June 1 if they qualify for the final.

End of registrations for Europeans

It is this Thursday, May 2 that it will no longer be possible to register online for the European elections, which will take place on June 9. From May 3, it will no longer be possible to do this directly with your town hall.

Curfew for minors

It is in May that the Nice town hall will introduce a curfew for its minors under 13 years old. They must not be alone outside between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. As a reminder, the town of Béziers (Hérault) has issued a similar decree.
