The arrival of sunny days often means terraces and aperitifs. However, drinks sipped outside could cost more this summer since the SAQ announces an overall increase of 0.7% in the price of its products.

In total, 2,096 bottles will be increased from May 26, the state company announced. The president and CEO of the SAQ, Jacques Farcy, nevertheless maintains that his teams were able to limit the increases.

“Our teams were able to negotiate our maritime transport costs downward, which allowed us to limit the price increase announced today, for the benefit of our customers,” he declared in a press release. We thus maintain fair and competitive prices, an essential element of our customer experience. With the depth of the SAQ’s product offering and the quality of the advisory service from our in-branch colleagues, each customer will continue to find a wine or spirit that meets both their expectations and their budget. »

This increase includes the increase in the purchasing cost, which is negotiated twice a year with suppliers, and the greater margin that the SAQ has decided to take on each bottle.
