The Regional Metropolitan Transport Authority (ARTM) has unveiled changes to its fare schedule which will be implemented from July 1. Among these, the price of a single ticket to travel from the southern crown to Montreal will increase to $7.
According to the Authority, the indexation of prices will be on average 3%, “despite the difficult financial context”.
Thus, the “1 passage Tous Modes ABC” ticket, required to travel to Montreal via the southern crown, will increase from $6.75 to $7. Tout Modes ABC tickets allow users to take all modes of transport, including the REM, from zone C, including the cities of Beauharnois, Candiac, Delson, Kahnawake, La Prairie, Léry, Mercier, Saint-Constant , Sainte-Catherine, Sainte-Julie, Saint-Philippe and Varennes.
The “2 passages, All ABC modes” title will go from $13 to $13.50 and the “10 passages, All ABC modes” title from $57 to $59.
The All Modes ABC monthly pass will increase by $6, from $190 to $196.
Certain fares, such as those for bus travel, will not be increased.
Benoît Gendron, general director of the ARTM, underlines that public transport faces significant financing challenges and that this update of fares “is responsible and aims to protect access to different services for the entire community. population”.
Referring to the gradual commissioning of the new REM antennas, he believes that users “will benefit from more flexibility in making their trips” and adds that “everything is being done to maintain the service offering”.
