Lens – Nice: “We often come across good goalkeepers”, smiles Brice Samba, not to be outdone

Brice, is it a very good 0-0, or were the two goalkeepers very good?

“There were indeed saves by goalkeepers, so I think the goalkeepers did the job they could do. Afterwards, we’re going to talk a little more about anyway, that’s four draws, so we’re a little disappointed, especially at home, we were hoping for better this evening. But hey, we’re moving forward, we’re not losing, it’s very important. »

You are a team which, compared to last season, takes even more risks but which is even more solid, what are the foundations of this defensive solidity?

“It’s all together. Afterwards, the coach came with his principles. We try to press, to be high. I think that by cornering the opponent, perhaps they have less demands too. It plays a role, I don’t know, I think it must become the coach’s plans. Afterwards, we look for efficiency in both surfaces, defensively and offensively. And it’s true that at the moment, offensively, it’s escaping us a little. It’s a shame, because we are solid, so I think we would have scored a lot more points. »

Above all, what is it, frustration?

“Yes, like I said, we’re home. We would have liked to win this match tonight. (3:40) That makes four draws. We are not moving forward. We don’t lose either. Afterwards, you know, the most important thing is at least that we keep this defensive solidity. I think the offensive efficiency will come back and that will be good. »

You have 11 chances, in the first period, of 14 or 15 shots, 33 balls hit in the area, how do you explain this inefficiency?

“I have to watch the match again. There, like that, it’s complicated to analyze. Afterwards, you know, the opposing goalkeeper also plays well. We often come across good goalkeepers, I noticed (laughs). But hey, after that, you have to force it. You have to persevere. And at some point, it will turn around. I think that if things go in the right direction, we can be very, very high in the rankings. »

How do you judge Kodir Khusanov’s performance?

“He’s a monster. I think you saw what he did again tonight. He scares me but really: for his age, for what he does, it won’t last long, I think…”

On a personal level, how do you judge your season and your ambitions in relation to the team and especially to this Lens team which will not play in the European Cup this season?

“The same ones. Always put Lens as high as possible, always be as efficient as possible. I don’t worry, I work to be good in matches. Afterwards, as I often say, I repeat, sometimes things go well, sometimes not. But in any case, I’m a guy who works, I know the sacrifices I make on a daily basis to be able to reach a certain level, and especially regularly, because that’s the difficulty. Afterwards, I don’t worry and we’ll see how this season goes. »
