A tragedy befalls the World Championships in Zurich. Aged 18, Muriel Furrer died this Friday, September 27, following her heavy fall during the road race at the junior world championships this Thursday.
“With the death of Muriel Furrer, the international cycling community loses a rider with a bright future”laments the UCI, which announced the news. During the junior road race, contested in the deluge, Furrer fell in conditions which have yet to be clarified. The young runner had “Suffered a serious head injury before being taken to hospital by helicopter in a very critical condition”.
