XALIMANEWS-Lat Diop, former general director of Lonase, was referred yesterday Thursday by the Criminal Investigation Division. He was indicted and placed under arrest for embezzlement of public funds, money laundering and extortion. He spent his first night in prison, and his case is currently under investigation.
Investigators from the Criminal Investigations Division (DIC), with the authorization of the Financial Prosecutor’s Office headed by El Hadji Alioune Abdoulaye Sylla, searched the home of Lat Diop in Maristes, informed the daily newspapers L’Observateur and Les Échos.
However, this search did not reveal any compromising evidence against the former Minister of Sports, adds Les Échos.
In addition, informs L’Observateur, a request for verification was sent to Taxes and Domains to confirm whether Lat Diop paid his tax obligations during his mandate at LONASE; these confirmed that he paid, although a sum of 380 million remained due.
It should also be noted that Mouhamed Dieng, former administrator of 1Xbet Senegal, accused Lat Diop of corruption, but did not attend the planned confrontation at the DIC on September 25.
