‘A historic decision’ in Florida: we no longer talk about West Bank, but about Samaria

The head of the Samaria regional council Yossi Dagan visited the United States about two weeks ago. During his meetings, he notably requested that the name ‘West Bank’ (West Bank) be no longer used and that the region be henceforth called Judea and Samaria in official American documents.

The first to adopt the measure was the mayor of Sunny Isles, Larisa Svechin, in the state of Florida, who, after her meeting with Dagan, did not wait for the bill to be adopted by Congress and endorsed it at hurriedly passed a resolution to the city council that the area known as ‘West Bank’ would henceforth be referred to as ‘Judea and Samaria’ in city documents.

Larisa Svechin explained her decision: “It is time for us to comply with the truth. The historical name of this region is Judea and Samaria, not the West Bank. Calling him by his real name is not only accurate; it is about respecting the Jewish people’s historical and biblical connection to the land. This decision reflects the solidarity between the residents of Sunny Isles, Florida and Israel. This shows our deep understanding and recognition of Israel’s historical roots, which resonate strongly in our community.” (Source Aroutz Sheva)
