Microbiotes and Health: a rapidly evolving field

Placed under the leitmotif “7 years of reflection”this “special” edition of the Microbiotes and Health Day was a real success. In fact, more than a hundred participants gathered to discuss the modulation of the intestinal microbiota.

Economy, communication and regulation are all subjects at the heart of the retrospective study conducted during this edition of Microbiotes and Health Day. Here are the few significant developments in the sector discussed during the interventions.

Concerning regulations in France and Europe, recent years have, in particular, been marked by the soHO regulations on substances of human origin. This aims to better regulate the collections of substances of human origin (blood, platelets, microbiota, etc.) thanks to quality and safety standards. On the economic front, the day was punctuated by the intervention of SMEs who came to present their innovations. The objective? Provide an overview of the economic ecosystem in which the microbiota evolves.

Finally, the microbiota is attracting more and more interest as evidenced by the increase in scientific publications on the subject and popularization among the general public. THE microbiota is on the rise. So we haven’t heard the last of it!

What are the expectations for the sector during Microbiotes and Health Day?

Beyond the simple inventory, this 7th edition of the Microbiotes and Health Day was also an opportunity to express expectations and discuss the challenges to come for the sector. These are first technological. This theme, essential when addressing the subject of the microbiota, also took an important place during the day. The review of the evolution of tools for the development of microbiota modulation products has thus made it possible to highlight the key subjects in the future of research: microbial description and patient stratification, preclinical tools and challenges in clinical investigation approaches.

Furthermore, use of big dataapproach translationalprobiotics new generationconstraints regulatory And production of microorganisms are all subjects that shape and will undoubtedly continue to shape the fields of microbiota and health.

Finally, in the microbiota sector, there are many expectations for the future. The patients’ association “Tous en Selles contre la ALS” has, for example, demonstrated the desire for genuine collaboration between patients, manufacturers and doctors. Invited for the first time, she also came to present her collaborative approach to fight against Charcot disease by modulating the microbiota.

These challenges and expectations therefore represent key issues to be placed at the heart of development strategies in the microbiota sector.

See you next year for a new edition of the Microbiotes and Health Day, just as rich, there is no doubt about it.

The subject of microbiota and biotics in general is also addressed in our White Paper “EAT TOMORROW”.
