This report on global energy development scenarios shows that Russia’s share in global production will be between 12 and 13% until 2050.

According to forecasts by Finam, one of the largest investment groups in Russia, oil production in Russia by 2050 may decline to 400-420 million tons per year given the decline in demand.

In the opinion of energy expert Kirill Rodionov, whether Russia can maintain its share of the oil market until 2050 at the current level will depend on access to modern production technologies and the tax regime in the country.

The creation of its own hydraulic fracturing fleet and the development of domestic software for hydrocarbon exploration and production are among the priorities for Russia in this direction.

In October 2023, the International Energy Agency (IEA) announced that the share of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and Russia in the global market would be maintained at 48% until 2030, and could exceed 50% by 2050.

The more than 120-page report presents a wide range of analytical, statistical and forecast information for 11 macro-regions of the world on the main types of energy resources: electricity, liquid hydrocarbons, natural gas, coal, hydrogen and biofuels.
