One person died in the fire that ravaged a building in Aubange on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday. Local authorities quickly secured the area, the damage is significant.

On the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, a major fire ravaged a building located at 12 Avenue de la Gares in Aubange. The mayor, François Kinard, confirmed that one person lost his life. Four residents were in the building when the fire started. One of them, affected by this fire, went to the CPAS on Wednesday morning to get help. The other two were rehoused with their family.

Firefighters from Aubange, Arlon and Virton, as well as a vehicle from Paliseul, were dispatched to the scene. This Wednesday morning, at 8:15 am, the firefighters were still on site.

The disaster completely destroyed the first floor and the roof of the building. The teams from the City of Aubange, in particular the works department, quickly mobilized to secure the premises. Around twenty Nadar barriers were installed to allow children to get to school safely this morning. The mayor praised their responsiveness in the face of this tragic situation. François Kinard confirms that the independent school is indeed open this Wednesday morning.

The Luxembourg Public Prosecutor’s Office was notified at around 4:00 a.m. The on-call magistrate asked the laboratory and a fire expert to come to the scene, but the body was still inaccessible this morning due to the temperature linked to the fire. Depending on the nature of the fire, other duties could be requested.
