“Sporting Clube de Portugal – Futebol, SAD was notified of UEFA’s decision that determined the closure of sector A14 of the José Alvalade Stadium for the eighth round of the UEFA Champions League, as a sanction for the improper use of pyrotechnic devices, in that sector, in previous games of the competition”, indicates the statement published on Sporting’s official website on the Internet.
UEFA’s punishment implies that “‘full gamebox’ holders in sector A14 will be prevented from using their title” in the meeting with the Italian team, which will be played on January 29, as well as game ticket holders for this sector.
The Portuguese champion and isolated leader of the I League “regrets the impact” that the ban will have on members and fans and “reinforces the call for responsible behavior, highlighting that a new failure to comply will have even more significant repercussions for the club”.
