FC Bayern Munich comes under the wheels at Feyenoord Rotterdam. The Munich team suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat and had to worry about qualifying for the round of 16 of the Champions League.
In the end, almost all the statistics spoke in Bayern’s favor – the offensive had 30 shots on goal. The Munich team repeatedly failed due to the outstanding Feyenoord goalkeeper Justin Bijlow or their own inability. Bayern’s star striker Harry Kane in particular cut a tragic figure at times during the game.
Before the break, Bijlow parried the Englishman’s shot from close range with an outstanding save. In the second half, the striker then put a header next to the goal and missed a double chance in the 68th minute. They were opportunities that Kane would probably have used in the fall.
The star striker scored his last goal from the game on November 22nd against FC Augsburg. Since the 3-0 win, he has only scored two goals in seven games through converted penalties.
-“We miss a lot of great opportunities,” says Joshua Kimmich
Kane was not alone in his excess of opportunities in Rotterdam. Kingsley Coman, Jamal Musiala and Leroy Sané also failed with their best opportunities. “We definitely leave too much lying around. When I see how many great chances we missed – that was very, very bad. You will then be punished in the Champions League. Then, despite the multitude of chances, we don’t deserve to win,” said Joshua Kimmich. The team makes too many mistakes: “The opponent doesn’t play to us. The feeling is very annoying after such a clear defeat.”
Bayern coach Vincent Kompany also didn’t try to sugarcoat the defeat and the missed opportunities: “The defeat is deserved. I always had the feeling that we could score goals. Individually and collectively it wasn’t enough for us today.”
