EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – The Evansville Police Department says they did outreach visits today for those experiencing homelessness in the extreme cold weather.
In a partnership with ECHO Housing & Community Development, Aurora and Southern Behavioral Healthcare, officers offered support, provided resources for accessing shelter and assisted with securing personal belongings.
Officials say while some locations were empty, the assistance was well received in other areas.
They say the ongoing collaborative visits have gotten unsheltered people to stay at United Caring Services, with many able to stay safe and warm.
-EPD says they remain committed to offering consistent resources and stability to those in need, no matter the weather conditions.
