The events took place on Saturday January 18 in the town of Omessa, in Central Corsica.
During a road check, the gendarmes arrested Laurent Emmanuelli. Presented by the investigative services as a member of the island's organized crime, the 34-year-old man from Balagne was under judicial control.
“He was prohibited from traveling to Corsica as part of this measure imposed by an investigative procedure currently being followed before the Bastia judicial court”indicates the public prosecutor, Jean-Philippe Navarre, without giving further details on this file.
-Following his arrest, Laurent Emmanuelli was referred to the public prosecutor's office and then placed in pre-trial detention at Borgo prison, while waiting for his file to be examined by the judge of freedoms and detention (JLD).
Contacted this Monday, January 20, his lawyers did not wish to comment at this stage.
Known to the courts, Laurent Emmanuelli is also being prosecuted in another procedure relating to the investigation into the assassination of Antoine Francisci. Presented as one of his relatives, the 22-year-old young man was shot and killed on May 13, 2019 in Pietralba while driving a buggy. Justice assumes that he was accompanied by Laurent Emmanuelli.
As part of this case managed by the Specialized Interregional Jurisdiction of Marseille (Jirs), the latter is the subject of a referral to the criminal court for “non-reporting of crime” and “modification of this same crime scene” .
In this case, five men are sent back next September to the Bouches-du-Rhône Assize Court. Among them, three will appear for “assassination” (on the person of Antoine Francisci), “attempted assassination” (against Laurent Emmanuelli) and “criminal associations”.
