THE TOPS
After his interesting entry against Lille, the 17-year-old striker once again brought a breath of fresh air to this OM, who were harmless in the first period. Through his incessant activity, he bothered the Strasbourg rearguard, like the penalty he caused. Only small downside: his missed opportunity at close range on a Merlin caviar, which could have given his team the advantage. Otherwise his entry into play would simply have been exceptional. Well done kitty!
SATISFYING
It took him a while to get into his game, but a lot of dangerous situations came from him. Too bad he lacked accuracy in the last move and sometimes success, like this shot which ended up on the post.
The Danish international was one of the Marseillais to sound the revolt by raising his level after returning from the locker room. He scratched a lot of balls in the Strasbourg camp. But, like his team this evening, he sometimes lacked accuracy in the last gesture. Like Rowe, he could perhaps have benefited from a penalty in stoppage time in this match.
A very interesting second half from the Marseille midfielder. Always there to release a hot ball or to find the right pass. A little discreet offensively, especially in the first half.
AVERAGE
Coming into play in place of Cornelius as soon as he returned from the locker room, he had the merit of contributing offensively. He embodied this excess of function that Roberto De Zerbi expects from his right axial. He can still do more!
Replacing Garcia, the former Nantais player brought the activity that was missing in his lane, notably delivering a very good cross for Vaz. However, he remains a little nervous defensively.
The Argentine goalkeeper didn't have much to do, but in the only face-to-face he had to negotiate, he was crucified by Emegha. We will remember a nice aerial exit and a save on a tight angle shot from Doué.
Back in the starting eleven after a long absence, he was unfortunately not flawless. He also bears some responsibility for Strasbourg's goal. But overall, he is not far from his best match with OM at the Vélodrome.
If he equalizes for OM from the penalty spot, the Marseille number 10 delivered a generally poor performance. The former Mancunian has too often wanted to achieve the individual feat. During the period of domination of OM, we would also have liked to see him more present and bring more danger. We will remember some good attempts, like his perfect cross for Merlin on Vaz's huge opportunity.
-They fall short
The Marseille striker has often been in difficulty against the Strasbourg defense. He was not found in the penalty area, but in his defense, he suffered from the weak offensive animation of the Olympians in the first period. He was replaced at half-time by Robinio Vaz. It remains insufficient.
Another more than average entry into play from Jonathan Rowe. Like Greenwood, he did not bring enough danger to the Strasbourg defense. He should have benefited from a penalty at the end of the match, but Mr. Dechepy and his video assistants decided otherwise…
FLOPS
A generally decent match, but the Argentinian forgot Emegha's marking on the Strasbourg goal, a costly error. He also got very upset in his duel with Emegha, with some placement errors. A good save from a cross though.
Aligned on the right in this three-way defense, the Canadian left-hander failed to make up for the absence of Amir Murillo. During the entire first period, he suffered from Roberto De Zerbi's blows.
In the absence of Valentin Rongier, Roberto De Zerbi chose to start him alongside Pierre-Emile Højbjerg. If, in attitude, he was once again impeccable, with the ball at his feet, he was much too messy, multiplying dangerous ball losses. He leaves his Santos in an armchair to throw Emegha at the Strasbourg goal. He gives way to Jonathan Rowe at the hour mark.
For a left piston, we have the right to expect much better offensively. The Swiss was too imprecise and accumulated technical waste.
