MC Alger validates its ticket to the quarter-finals of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League thanks to a 0-0 draw against Young Africans in Tanzania this Saturday.
The Algerian club needed just one point to join already qualified Al Hilal in the knockout phase. With a solid and controlled performance, MC Alger finished in second place in Group A with nine points.
This result puts an end to the hopes of the Young Africans, champions of Tanzania, who finished third with eight points.
The two North African clubs, Al Hilal and MC Alger, therefore reach the quarter-finals, while TP Mazembe brings up the rear of the group, despite a resounding victory against Al Hilal 4-0 on the last day.
TP Mazembe finished in style with a big 4-0 victory against Al Hilal.
-Already eliminated before this match, the Corbeaux de Lubumbashi delivered their best performance of the competition this Saturday. Jean Diouf opened the scoring in the 21st minute, followed by Ibrahima Keita who doubled the lead in the 29th. Mercy Ngembe scored the third goal on the hour mark, before Souleymane Chaibou closed the display in the 89th minute.
This clear victory, however, has no impact on the ranking of this Group A. Al Hilal finishes at the top of the group with 10 points.
