New Dutch champion Puck Pieterse has to suit up for the Benidorm World Cup

Puck Pieterse will not be at the start of the Benidorm World Cup today. The brand new Dutch champion has contracted a cold and feels forced to skip the Spanish World Cup round.

“Normally, both Puck Pieterse and Ceylin Alvarado would ride the World Cup in Benidorm on Sunday. Unfortunately, Puck caught a cold last weekend. She has not yet fully recovered from this, which means she had to cancel last minute for the cross in Benidorm,” her team Fenix-Deceuninck said.

Due to Pieterse’s cancellation, world champion Fem van Empel is the clear top favorite for the cyclo-cross in Benidorm. However, it will certainly not be easy, because there are quite a few strong riders at the start, including Alvarado, Marianne Vos, Lucinda Brand and Zoe Bäckstedt.
